As every dog owners knows, regular dog grooming will keep your dog healthier.

Basic dog grooming includes, bathing, drying, removal of undercoat, ear cleaning and nail trimming. All of these go along way to maintaining your pets long term health and well being.

Most pet related stores have an in house dog grooming facility with trained staff and therefore, many dog owners don't feel the need to groom their own dogs. For dog owners who do not have these facilities in their area, or can least afford the facility, the act of grooming their dogs themselves is well worth it.

How often you groom your dog depends upon several factors; your dogs coat type, whether it be long haired or short, their activity level and whether or not your dog is an outside or inside dog.

All dog grooming should be carried out every 4 to 6 weeks. The most important aspect of regular dog grooming is health maintenance. Your pets undercoat must be managed to keep it from becoming matted, for example, matted coats reduce air circulation, which in turn will hamper your dogs natural ability to stay warm in Winter and cool down during the Summer.

Take great care of your beloved pet and don't forget to groom them regular.
