What is the average wavelength of light that filters in a video camera?
To what wavelength of light makes a filter video camera out? In addition, infrared light between 1350-1650nm have harmful effects on humans? If so, what side effects have experience and what can be done to remedy the problem? Also, does anyone know where can I get IR LEDs produce? Thanks for your time.
Sea or not a video camera including: a) includes an IR filter (and how effective it is) or b) has a sensor with good sensitivity in the infrared range, are often not specifications found in the camera, but can be easily determined using the IR remote control mentioned in previous post. In a dark room, open and close an IR command distance to the camera from a distance of about 3 feet. Watch the resulting video. If you see a very bright white flash, the recorder is not filtering much of the IR, and is quite sensitive to it, and you can use infrared lighting to the 'dark shot. In general, there is nothing we can do to improve both the sensitivity of the sensor or Remove filter (often coated directly onto a lens element or CCD / CMOS sensor), so what a camera is given outside the box is more or less what you're stuck with. Think of it as heat (as it is spectrum). You do not really need or want to go to 1350 ~ 1650nm for this project. You are much, much less likely to have the sensor in any regular camcorder to reply to lower wavelengths, and is much easier to get illuminators and / or LEDs in the 820Nm ~ 870nm wide anyway.
