Cat-5 UTP passive balun camera system CCTV …?
I have been researching systems CCTV – Standalone DVR and cameras Closed circuit television – and I found something I do not fully understand. I'm looking at the use of "passive Baluns" to connect each camera to the DVR. Now, the descriptions of each listing I read says something along the lines of "passive device – no external power required. That simply means that the balun itself does not need a power supply, or does that mean when using baluns camera does not need a power supply external? He'd be awesome if the case were true, as my company is looking for a camera system 16, and we'll be running somewhere around 4000ft cable. It would be nice if we could run a CAT-5 cable from each camera instead of a video cable to the DVR and cable box feeding a supply reservoir energy. The Balun passive means you can transmit a video signal via a CAT5 cable. The advantage is that it can transmit video over a longer cable run, usually up to 300m using passive balun. Normal coaxial cables have a limit of about 90m. Twisted pairs in CAT5 cable is also good at rejecting interferrence electro. No power required 'Or' passive 'does not need a power amplifier or any other power source to extend ….. ONLY VIDEO SIGNAL up to 300m. Active Balun is a balun Powered meaning that amplify the video signal up to 1200 or so. If using a CAT5 cable to run power to the cameras, the balun will not make any difference to the distance that can feed on energy. After 60 meters of cable, the tension in most of the cables begin to fall. If you want a long cable run, the power of the camera, use a power supply for 14V or 12V PSU 28v cameras to 24 cameras. In this case the voltage drop on the cable distance will be slightly offset by the tension that produces the largest. Here are some tips ———————— 1) Use a balun that has a power connector is just by need a device or make video and power connection on the side of the camera for example, see the balun with DC connector here http://www.cop-security-online.co.uk/acatalog/Shop__front_Passive_system_36 . html 2) A trick that I made in a plant with long distance camera uses a 24VAC power converter then use a 12 V DC to 24VAC guarantee could get 12v at the end of the chamber up to 250 meters Hope this helps.
